Take Me Home

I can see her green fields, white cottages and sea in my heart's window.

Ireland, I'll miss you forever.

When my time comes

Lord, please take me home.

Phil Coulter-Take Me Home

As the sun is sinking
I sit here thinking of long winter evenings by my own far side

So far away now at my day now
I'll sail on the morning tide

Lord, oh! Take me home
Home to the people I left behind
Home to the love I know I’ll find
Oh! Take me home

I sit here drinking while the sun is sinking low o’er the mountain and the dry dusty ground.
As the night is fallin’, I start recallin’ the nights in my own home town.
I see their faces in familiar places, I hear the music that we played back then:
My heart rejoices as I hear their voices calling me home again.
Home, oh! Take me home, home to the people I left behind.
Home to the love I know I’ll find: oh! Take me home.

As the sky is burning, my mind is turning to the cold winter evenings by my own fireside.
So far away now, but any day now, I’ll sail on the morning tide.
Home, oh! Take me home, home to the people I left behind.
Home to the love I know I’ll find: oh! Take me home.

River Foyle, Derry Peace Bridge

The Peace Bridge is the newest of three bridges across the River Foyle in the city of Derry.

A cycle and foot bridge across the River Foyle.

Derry, officially Londonderry (/ˈlʌndəndɛri/),

is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland and the fourth-largest city on the island of Ireland. The name Derry is an anglicisation of the Old Irish name Daire (modern Irish: Doire [ˈd̪ˠɛɾʲə]) meaning "oak grove". In 1613, the city was granted a royal charter by King James I and gained the "London" prefix to reflect the funding of its construction by the London guilds. While the city is more usually known colloquially as Derry, Londonderry is also commonly used and remains the legal name.
