Russia has launched a series of kamikaze drone strikes across the capital of Ukraine as fires erupted in the war-torn city.

Vladimir Putin's men dropped the Iranian-made 'suicide' drones on Kyiv early Monday as part of a coordinated blitz.

Horrifying footage showed the weapons circling over the central Shevchenko district before plunging to the ground.

They burst into flames and caused huge explosions to ring out across the city as people started to wake up.

Mayor Vitaliy Klichko shared images of one of the smashed drones and urged his people to take shelter.

The attacks rocked the same area where a week ago a missile struck a children's playground.
