Cape Reinga /Te Rerenga Wairua

[레잉아곶, 雷恩加角]

 

 

Cape Reinga, official name Cape Reinga/Te Rerenga Wairua, is the northern end of the North Island of New Zealand

 

공식명칭은 레잉아 곶/ 테레렝아 와이루아는 뉴질랜드 북섬의 최북단이다.

검푸른 태평양과 타스만이 만나 부딪치는 거대한 파도와 물돌이도 아름답다.

(남반구 태평양을 넘어 적도를 지나 북반구 태평양에로 끝없이 이어지는 망망대해가 시작되는 곶....)

 

 

The 'Te Rerenga Wairua' component of the name in Māori language means the leaping-off place of spirits.

마오리말로 구성된 이름 " 테 레렝아 와이루아" 는 "영혼이 떨어지는 곶"을 의미한다.

The 'Reinga' part of the name is the Māori language word meaning the underworld .

이름의 부분인 "레잉아" 는 '지하세계'를 뜻하는 마오리어다.

 

Both refer to the Māori belief that the cape is the point where the spirits of the dead enter the underworld.

양자의 "그 곶" 은 '사자(死者)의 영혼이 지하세계로 들어가는 지점'이란 마오리 신앙을 언급하는 것이다.
