The Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcano in Tonga just produced a second new eruption of the year, sending a plume of ash 16,800 meters or 55,000 feet into the atmosphere. This new eruption occurred alongside a surprise tsunami, which was likely generated by a volcanic edifice collapse. At the present, the Tonga coastline including Tongatapu is under a tsunami warning, as more small tsunamis may occur as the eruption continues. This video will separate fact from fiction and discuss what size and duration of volcanic activity is expected at Hunga Tonga. It is a very famous volcano as it has produced several spectacular island forming eruptions in the 21st century.

ERUPTION OF HUNGA HA'APAL VOLCANO
Huge Eruption of Underwater Volcano of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai has happened this morning January 14 2022 in Polynesia area of South Pacific. Eruption is latest and largest one from series of eruptions ongoing on the island during the last couple of weeks.
Eruption column of ashes and steam has reached height of 20,000 meters what caused partial restriction and cancelation of flights in the area. Inhabitance of Tonga - 60 km away - was adviced to stay inside and use masks outdoor. Whole island of Tonga is affected by ash deposition.
More eruption might be expected but danger of major Tsunami is rathe low.
HUNGA-TONGA VOLCANIC ISLAND
Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haʻapai is a uninhabited volcanic island located about 30 kilometres south-southeast of Fonuafoʻou island in Tonga. Island elevation is 149 meters. The volcano is part of the highly active Tonga-Kermadec Islands volcanic arc, a subduction zone extending from New Zealand north-northeast to Fiji. It lies about 100 kilometres above a very active seismic zone. The island arc is formed at the convergent boundary where the Pacific Plate subducts under the Indo-Australian Plate.
The volcano itself is a submarine volcano that breached sea level in 2009 due to a volcanic eruption and lies underwater between the two islands (Hunga Tonga and Hunga Ha'apai), which are the remnants of the western and northern rim of the volcano's caldera.
