The 24-year-old American Horror Story actress was working on a mystery project and will play the starring role of Chanel Oberlin in FOX's upcoming horror series, Scream Queens.

Emma Roberts had an unusual costume while working on the New Orleans set of her latest project.

The 24-year-old actress was spotted there on Friday while smoking a cigarette and chatting on her cell phone.

Strangely, Emma's attire at that moment included a fully visible lacy bra and knee-high Hunter wellington boots.

Although the exact nature of Emma's current project is unknown, it has been rumoured to be an advertisement for a lingerie company.

The only clothing worn overtop the underwear was a pale grey robe that was loosely tied at the waist.

A blue bandanna pulled back Emma's blonde hair, while grey socks were just visible peeking over the tops of the pea-green wellies.

It was revealed to Zap2it on June 25 that Emma had been cast in an unknown role for the upcoming American Horror Story: Hotel.

'She comes at the end,' series creator Ryan Murphy hinted about Emma's character. 'She comes and she has a great thing with Evan Peters at the end.'

Such interaction could prove somewhat awkward, since Emma and Evan, 28, were engaged before ending their three-year relationship in June.

Before she can return to the AHS franchise, however, Emma will star in a new television show, Scream Queens.

Emma plays the lead role of Chanel Oberlin in the horror series set to premiere in September.
