Regina Nathan (born 17 August 1960) is an Irish soprano.

Nathan was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and was raised in Dublin.

 

She studied at St. Patrick's College, Maynooth, the College of Music, Dublin (now the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama),

Trinity College of Music, London and at the National Opera Studio.

 

She represented Ireland at the 1991 Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, has performed in with Placido Domingo in Dublin

and proclaimed as Ireland's outstanding New Entertainer of the year in 1991.

 

She has worked with a number of orchestras including the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

In 1994 she was the subject of an hour long documentary made for RTÉ by Louis Lentin, The Quality of Rapture.

 

Nathan performed on four of the twenty tracks of the multi-platinum selling compilation album Faith of Our Fathers.

Nathan has given world premières of contemporary works, including John Buckley's Maynooth Te Deum (1995)

and Mark-Anthony Turnage's The Country of the Blind (1997).

She taught at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama between 2005 and 2007.

베토벤에 대해서 일반적으로 잘 알려져 있지 않은 사실 중 하나는, 그가 많은 전통음악들을 채보하고 편곡하였다는 것입니다. 채보는 곡조를 듣고 악보로 만드는 일입니다. 1809년부터 출판가 조지 톰슨(George Thomson)을 위해 채보와 편곡 작업을 했다고 알려져 있는데 스코틀랜드, 아일랜드, 웨일즈 지방의 전통 음악을 위주로 작업하였고 독일, 폴란드, 러시아에 이르기까지 180여 곡의 전통 음악들을 모았다고 합니다.

가톨릭 성가 252번 ‘성모여 우리 위해’는 베토벤이 채보하고 편곡한 이탈리아 시칠리아 지방의 고전 성가로, 원제목은 ‘O sanctissima(오 거룩하시어라)’입니다. 이 곡은 시칠리아 섬의 어부들이 성모님께 간구하던 기도였으며 라틴어로 되어 있습니다.
