뒷담화는 세 사람을 죽인다 

 

♥ 험담은 세 사람을 죽인다 ♥

 

한 신부가  젊은 과부 집을 자주 드나들자

이를 본 마을 사람들은 좋지 않은 소문을 퍼뜨리며

신부를 비난 했습니다

​

그런데

얼마 후 그 과부가 세상을 떠나고 말았습니다

​

그제야 마을 사람들은

그 신부가 암에 걸린 젊은 과부를

그 동안 위로하고 돌보았다는 사실을 알게 되었습니다

​

그동안

가장 혹독하게 비난했던 두 여인이

​어느 날 그 신부를 찾아가  사과하며 용서를 빌었습니다

​

그러자

그 신부는그들에게 닭 털을 한 봉지씩 나눠주며

들판에 가서 그것을 날리고 오라고 하였습니다

 

그리고 얼마 후

닭 털을 날리고 돌아온 그 여인들에게

다시 그 닭 털을 주워 오라고 하였습니다

​

그러자 그 여인들은

바람에 날려 가버린 닭 털을  무슨 수로 줍겠느냐며 울상을 지었습니다

 

그러자 그 신부는

여인들의 얼굴을 뜷어지게  처다보며 말했습니다

 

나에게 용서를 구하니 내가 용서해 주는 것은 문제가 없으나

한번 내뱉은 말은 다시 담지 못합니다

​

험담을 하는 것은 살인 보다도 위험한 것이라는 말이 있습니다

​

살인은  한 사람만 죽이지만​

험담은

한꺼번에

세 사람 해치는 결과를 가져옵니다

​

첫째는

험담을 하는 자신이요

​

둘째는

그것을 반대하지 않고 듣고 있는 사람들이며

​

셋째는 그 험담을  본인에게 전달하며 재미있어 하는 사람들입니다

​

남을 험담을 하는 것은

결국 자기 자신의  부족함만 드러내고 마는  결과를 가져올 뿐입니다!

This Scripture Quote hit me like a ton of bricks. Yes, I know God hates gossip, and I know gossip is harmful. But what this scripture shouted out loud to me today is that when we gossip about others, it’s like we are attempting to kill them. When we gossip, we are in effect killing a person’s character, and possibly even more! When we listen to gossip and don’t do anything to stop it, it’s as though we are standing by idly while someone else is doing the killing (i.e. attempted killing). When we participate in gossip, we are killing relationships. So, what came to mind after reading this scripture is simply that Gossip kills!
